Softwood is cheaper than hardwood because of it’s shorter lifespan. However, the softwood is easier to light and can still provide a good flame depending on seasoning.
The quality of softwood logs depends on the seasoning. If not properly seasoned, softwood can give poor results. However, if they are seasoned well, with attention paid to the moisture level, it can give a surprisingly good burn. Our softwood is seasoned longer than other suppliers to reduce the moisture content further – resulting in a surprisingly economical performance.
Softwood is the source of about 80% of the world’s production of timber. Soft wood is a much more sustainable fuel because it grows quickly and is easier to light which provides a more economical product and cost effective fuel.
